STEAMER AGROUND.

By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, August 1. The Kawau Steam Ship Company's new steamer Daphne went aground in the Warkworth River at Morrison's Bend, on Tuesday last, and has not yet been floated off. The steamer left Warkworth on Tuesday afternoon, and should have arrived at Auckland the same day. The s.s. Kapanui passed the vessel yesterday, and her captain reports that it was stated at Warkworth that something had happened to the Daphne's steering gear causing her to go aground, but no reference was made to this in the captain's wire to the local office.
