J (From Our Owv. Correspondent.) Owing to the continuous wet v/ea- | ther crutching operations and other ; work which should have been finished weeks ago, have only just been completed. Farmers state that this winter has been a very hard one on stock —the worst experienced for years. A settler recently gave a swagger a night's shelter. Next morning hfi swagger and one of the settler's horses were missing. The matter has been planed in the hands of the N^Aplice- " There are several instances on record of articles of glassware having been broken through the mailbag being thrown from the express train as it passes the station here. The senders omitted to label the glassware prouerly- Could not some other means of delivering the mailbag be devised, instead of throwing it from the train. Master J. Clarke, who has been in the Masterton Hospital for nearly two months, has recovered sufficiently tc allow of his getting about a little without support.
