A SCOW ASHORE.
By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 30. The scow Bravo was carried|ashore at Pontana Bay close to Whangarei, on Monday] night. The scow had anchored in a sheltered position, but the anchor dragged and the vessel was swept ashore. The crew were all landed safely. The scow is said to be on a sandy beach and to have sustained no damage. She was bound from Nguguru to Paeroa. The crew are standing by the vessel, and it is expectedjshe will be floated without much difficulty. The Bravo was ashoie near Cape Maria Van Diemen in January last. She was floated off and came to Auckland, where she was repaired. She is owned by a local syndicate. The master's tjlegram to the local agents (the Northern Coal Company) is as follows: "During the easterly gale the Bravo dragged her two anchors and carried away the cable. There is a chance of getting her off if the weather moderates, but at present it is impossible to do anything as the seas are breaking over the hull and rigging. The crew are all on shore." It has been decided to send a scow to Pontana By to take off the Bravo's cargo of coal. A tug boat will then tow the Bravo off the beach.
