MARLBOROUGH LAND AND RAILWAY LEAGUE.
By Telegraph—Press Association
BLENHEIM, July 25. At a public meeting, held in the Town Hall, under the auspices of the Marlborough Land and Railway League, speeches were made by the president and other members, and also prominent settlers, in favour of a speedy completion of the railway to Ward and the construction of the new wharf at Picton. Resolutions embodying these proposals were carried, and it was decided to ask the League to organise a deputation from the local bodies to interview the Prime Minister, and urge the necessity of the construction of the East Coast line, and a new wharf at Picton. The opinion of the speakers generally was against the co-operative system, and in favour of letting the work by contract.
