DEMONSTRATION ON A CRICKET FIELD. AN EXCITED CROWD. Received July 25, 9 a.m. LONDON, July 24. The crowd becoming incensed at Lords owing to no play in the match Middlesex v. Lancashire, due to the wetness of the ground, after hooting in front of the pavilion and demandmoney back, invaded the wicket and damaged it so seriously that Mr A. C. MaeLaren, the Lancashire skipper, refused to continue the match, which was abandoned. BEER FOR NATIVES. Received July 25, 8.34 a.m. LONDON, July 24. The Times' Johannesburg correspondent states chat the main object of the Government Liquor Bill is to attract a larger number of Kaffirs to the Rand, but he adds that the support of the brewers and a certain number of mining men will not suffice to carry the Bill in face of the growing storm of opposition. "DRIVING" IN GALWAY. Received July 25, 8.47_a.m. LONDON, July 24. The Judge granted the SolicitorGeneral's application to change the venue of the trial of sixty-seven drivers of cattle, on the ground that a fair trial in Galway was impossible.
