MASTERTON RACING CLUB.

ANNU/.L REPORT. . + The annual report of the Stewards of the Mugterton Racing Club, to be submitted to the annual meeting of members on August Ist, is as follows The Stewards have much pleasure in laying before you the annual report and balance-sheet for year ended June 30th, 1907. Commencing the year with a debit lalance of £145 19s, we finish the year with a credit balance of .£73 5s Id, showing an improvement ij) the club's funds of £219 4s Id, after spending £142 in new buildings. The stakes for th<3 season were increased by £235, mailing the sum of £2,500 distributed as stakes in the two meetings. The new training track has received a good deal of attention during the year, and two sets of new 10 inch drain pipes have been laid across the course proper andj;he training track, which have proved very beneficial in removing any surface water from the tracks. The racing track is now in very fair order. After the Spring Meeting, Mr T. Duncan, who acted very efficiently as Secretary of the Ciub for many years, resigned, as he was leaving the district, and Mr A. Hathaway was appointed in his place. The custodian, Mr W. E. Welch, has also sent in his resignation, and a custodian has been appointed temporarily in his place. The annual meeting will be held in the Exchange Buildings on Thursday, August Ist, 1907, at 2-30 p.m., when the members will be called upon to elect ■ the U3ual officers for the year. Seventeen meetings of Stewards were held during the year, and the following shows the attendance: —A. J. Welch 17, W. Cooper 16, C. H. Smith 16, W. Piatt 15, J. Cress 14, D. McLachlan 14, D. Caselberg 13, C. H. Vallance 13, J. lorns 12, C. A. Pownall 12. A. Reside 12, R. Buick 11, W. lorns 10, J. Macara 10, A. G. Pilmer 7, W. D. Watson 7, and F. Moore 2.
