MAJOR CUP COMPETITION
W.F.C.A. v. UNITED,
The W.F.C.A. and United teams met at Lansdowne, yesterday afternoon, the former winning by three goals to one. The game was a very fast and even one all through. During the first spell United scored one goal and the W.F.C.A. two goals. In the second spell W.F.C.A. scored another goal. Pragnell, Minett and Whitt hit a goal each for the winners, and Winter scored the goal for the United. Mr W. J. Vernon was referee. KIA KAHA v. KNOX. The Kia Kaha team met and defeated Knox at Laiudowne, yesterday, by six goals to nil. Goals were s:ored for the winners by Rue (3), Williams (2), and Atkins. Mr J. L. Hughes was referee. HUGHES SHIELD. HIGH SCHOOL v. GLENGARRY. A match was played on the High School Grounds, yesterday afternoon, between the Glengarry and Masterton High School teams, and resulted in a win for theglatter by two goals
to nil. The following were the teams -.—High School Goalkeeper, Miss D. Terry; fullbacks, Misses Ivy McKenzie and 0. Dagg; halves, Misses G. Waddington, E. Dagg and D.Jackson; forwards, Misses M. McKenzie, G. Elliott, C. Easthope, A. Jackson, E. Elliott. Glengarry—Goalkeeper, Miss Evans; fullbacks, Misses de Lisle and E. Miller;halves, Misses F. Hood, I. McKenzie and G. Gordon; forwards, Misses K. McGregor, A. Devenport, J. Scott. W. Logan and A. Pike, From the bully-off the High School attacked, but Misses Gordon and McGregor were responsible for play centring. Another determined school rush, in which Misses M. McKenzie, A. Jackson and E Elliott were prominent, was stopped by Misses de Lisie and McKenzie in fine style, and Misses McGregor and Devenport removed play to the centre again. Miss Pike took the ball along the wing and some exciting play followed. Misses M. McKenzie, E. Dagg and D. Jackson carried the ball down the field, and Glengarry were placed on the defence, but good play by Misses Gordon, McGregor, Hood and McKenzie prevented a score. Fast open play followed in which the forwards of both teams did splendid work. Misses McGregor and Scott were next prominent in carrying play into the High School territory, but Misses 0. Dagg, D. Jackson, C. Easthope and G. Waddington removed play to the centre. Some splendid work by Misses Gordon, McGregor, and Pike placed the High School on the defence again, but the School forwards broke away and Glengarry had an anxious time defending their goal. Good hitting by the Glengarry backs removed play to the centre. Misses C. Elliott, M. McKenzie, E. Elliott and A. Jackson headed another attack on the Glengarry goal, but the defence was too good, and Misses Logan, McGregor and Devenport eventually carried play to the centre. The remainder of the spell was of an even nature, and was keenly contested. The School team had the best of the second spell, and had Glengarry on the defensive for the greater part of the game. Misses A. Jackson and E. Elliott scored goals for the School. Some good play was shown by the High School forwards during the spell, while for Glengarry Misses Gordon, McGregor, McKenzie and Pike were conspicuous. The game ended in a win for the High School by 2 goals to nil. Mr B. Iveson was referee. Of the High School forwards, Misses McKenzie, Jackson and E. Elliott were perhaps the best, while the backs all played well. The Glengarry forwards all played a good game. Of the backs, Misses Gordon and McKenzie were perhaps the most conspicuous.
