The Chinese butcher referred to in the Assembly on Wednesday indignantly repudiates Mr Dacey's assertions in regard to the quality of his meat, which he attributes to jealousy against one who has carried on a successful business for thirty years and, to the fact that he is a Chinese. SERIOUS EXPLOSION. Received July 12,10.44 a.m. MELBOURNE July 12. Owing to a bottle o£ ether breaking in the dispensary of the Children's Hospital, an explosion occurred. The assistant dispenser was blown through a window, though not seriously hurt, and another man had a thumb dislocated. MADAME CARRENO. Received July 12, 11.57 p.m. HOBART, July 12. Madame Carreno, the pianiste, is a passenger by the Mah-;no. She had a brilliant tour of the Co union wealth.
