HON. W HALL-JONES.
FAREWELL MESSAGE. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 11. The Hon. W. Hall-Jones,Minister of Public Works and Minister for Railways, embarked on the steamship Kaipara, atLyttelton, this afternoon, and the vessel is expected to sail for England at 5 o'clock to-morrow morning. The Minister was accompanied by Mrs Hall-Jones. Miss Hall-Jones and Mr G. C. Schmidt, private secretary. When asked for a farewell message the Hon. Mr Hall-Jones replied: Tell the people how very grateful I am for all their kindness; tell them how I appreciate the consideration shown to me by my colleagues and the members of Parliament, the good wishes of public men, and of local bodies, of the press and the people generally: tell them that all this kindness has done me good. I feel better for it. He also spoke in confident tones of his return a few months hence in full health. The Kaipara is due at London on August 2Sth, and will call 011 the way at Monte Video, St. Vincent and Teneriffe.
