MASTERTON MUNICIPAL FIRE BRIGADE.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Masterton Municipal Fire Brigade was held in the Central Fire Station last evening. Captain Jenkins presided over a large attendance. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: — Captain, T. Jenkins, reelected; first lieutenant, C. A. Ewington re-elected; second lieutenant, P. Jorgensen; senior foreman, E. Jenkins; junior foreman, J. Thompson; secretary, E, Pragnell. re-elected; assistant engineer, E. Warner, re-elected; branehmen. Mo. 1 station, first, E. Warner, second, H. Selby, third Braggins fourth Pickering; hydrantmen, No. 1 station, first W. G. Norman, second R. B. Church; branehmen, No. 2 station, first P. Holmes, second C. Clark : hydrantman, No. 2 station, H. Scales; custodian, No. 2 station, P. Holmes; finance committee, Foreman Jenkins and Firemen Haughey and McEwen. The secretary was instructed to wait on Dr. Cowie asking him whether he would be prepared to deliver addresses on first aid to the injured, in the Fire Brigade Station. It was decided that the secretary should write to the Band asking if they had any further use for their old practice room, as the Brigade wished to make use of it. The secretary was instructed to issue clearance forms to any member resigning, at the time such resignation is received by the Fire Brigade. The question of inviting the U.F.B.A. to hold its next annual conference in Masterton was brought up by the chairman, but it was eventually decided to hold the matter over until next meeting. The Brigade decided to hold a banquet at a date to be arranged. Tenders were accepted for the catering, and music at the function. Detail arrangements were held over until next meeting. Votes of thanks were accorded to the retiring officers, to Mr J. Dixon for the supply of cordials at various functions during the year, and to the newspaper proprietors for the supply of papers daily. Captain J. Dixon, of the Fire Police, was elected a free honorary member for twelve months. Mr M. O. Maymond was elected an active member, and Mr J. Alpass an honorary member.
