WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.

Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report as follows regarding Friday's sale:— We held our fortnightly sale to-day, offering 64 bales wool, 2,000 skins, 800 hides and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. There was a full attendance of buyers from various parts of New Zealand. Prices for the best crutchings remained the same, but inferior were easy. Wool. —We quote—Coarse crossbred 8d to Bfd, rough and inferior 6d to 6f d, pieces and bellies 4£d to 5Jd, locks 3d to 4d, crutchings (good) 6d to 7£d, crutchings (seedy) 4d to s|d. Skins—Dry shipping lines were in good demand at about a farthing lower than last sale. Green skins were tenpence to a shilling lower than last sale. We quote—Merinos 7d to Bd, fine crossbreds 8d to BJd, coarse crossbreds 8d to B£d, dead skins 6£d to 7£d, dead hoggets 6Jd to 7d, dry pelts s£d to s|d, lamb skins 7Jd to B£d, green skins 5s to 6s lid, iamb pelts 3s to 4s. Tallow—Firm. Parcels in shipping order £27, tins £l7 to £23, rough fat £l6. Horsehair. —Is 3d to Is 6d per lb. Horns.—23s to 24s per 100. Hides.— We offered another large catalogue to-day of hides. The markets in Australia are lower again, and this affected prices here to the extent of one half-penny lb all pound. The local prices, however, are still well up to'the Australian parity. We auote—Ox hides (extra heavy) 6d, ox hides (601b to 701b) 5Jd to s£d, oxhides (501b to 591b) s§d to s£d, cow hides 4|d to 5Jd, calf skins (best) 6d to 7d, calf skins (cut and slipoy) 3d to 4d, hjdes (cut and slippy) 4d to 4|d, stag hides 3£d to 4id, bull hides 3d to 3|d. The next sale will be held on Friday, July 19th, 1907. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Cp., Ltd., report:— We submitted ajjcatalogue of 35 bales ' and some bags wool, 1,000 sheepskins, 250 hides and a quantity of tallow. Buyers were present in force, and competed eagerly for all clean, light crutchings and good sheepskins. < Seedy crutchings and damaged skins were not in so good demand. In sympathy with the lower values ruling in Home and European markets local buyers lowered their limits from id to Jd per lb. Hides were well ' competed for, but in sympathy with continued decline in the Australian markets prices were somewhat lower than last sale. We quote—Wool,clean, light crutchings 6|d to 7£d, coarse crutchings 5f d to 6Jd, seedy and inferior crutchings 4d to sj£d, locks to 3£d. Sheepskins—Crossbred pelts 63 to 6£d, inferior and broken pelts, 2d to s§d, half bred and threequarterbred woolled skins 8d to 8&d, lamb skins Sd to Bfd, dead skins and inferior pelted skins 6d to 7d per lb, green sicins 4s 6d to 6s 3d each. Hides ' —Ox (light) from 5d to s|d, cow from 4|d to s£d, damaged hides from 3d to 4Jd, calfskins (sound) from 6d to 7d, calfskins (damaged) from 2Jd to sd, yearlings to sfd. Tallow —In tins to 23s per cwt. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—More buyers were in attendance than usual,, several • coming from the South to operate, and competition was keen. All good lines were eagerly sought for, but inferior quality in the offerings was - not competed for to any extent. Our catalogue was a large one. and we disposed of "everything at satisfactory "prices. Wool— Our offering under this head consisted of mostly crutchings, but very few lines were of superior quality. Prices were about id to Jd lower, and anything inclined to be heavy in condition and dingy suffered to a greater extent. We quote—Crossbred (inferior) 7fd, crutchings (superior) 6|d to 7Jd, medium 6d to 6£d, inferior 5d to 5Jd, dead 6|d, locks 3d. Skins. Some nice lines of crossbreds were offered, mostly half bred to threequarterbred wool, but prices were lower by id to Jd. Inferior lines were almost neglected. The weather has not been favourable for drying and a larger number of green skins than usual was offered. We quote—Crossbred (well conditioned pelts) 8d to B|d, shorts 7£d to Bd, lambs (woolly) B£d to B|d, half bred shorts 7|d, lambs (shorn) 7Jd to Bd, inferior and broken 7d to 7£d, pelts up to 6d, green skins (medium quality) 4s 7d to 5s Bd. Hides.—ln sympathy with Australian markets a drop of from id to |d was experienced, although good conditioned hides sold better than we expected. In our catalogue some very heavy ox and cow were offered. The condition of all was excellent, notwithstanding the . damp weather during the last few day**. We quote— Ox (751b to 801b) s£d to 6d per lb, ox (551b to 651b) 5Jd to 5Jd per lb, cows (711b) 4gel per lb,' cow (451b to 551b) s|d to s£d, cow (cut) 41d, ox (cut) 4ld,|yearlings4d to s|d, calf (61b to 121b), €d to 6fd. Tallow—ln casks £22 10s to £26 per ton, in tins 23s to 23s 6d per cwt. Horns—l6s 9d per hundred.
