NEW YORK, July 5. The Attorney-General, the Hon. Chas. J. Bonaparte, has instructed the United States District Attorney at San Francisco, and his assistant, to associate themselves with counsel for the Japanese restaurant keepers, in the claim brought by the latter against the San Francisco civic authorities for damage sustained by the restaurants through riots. THE PACIFIC FLEET. Received July 7, 4.36 p.m. NEW YORK, July 6. Advices from Washington admit that a fleet of sixteen battleships under Admiral Evans will sail for the Pacific via Cape Horn, early in the autumn. President Roosevelt states that the step has been contemplated for two years, and does not relate to the trouble which has arisen with Japan. It is intended to promote drill and solve the coaling problem.
