STOCK MARKET.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report as followsAt Pahiatua sheep came forward in fair average numbers. The quality being good we had no difficulty in making a clearance at rates in advance of previous sales. The yarding in cattle was very light, being chiefly cows and heifers, mearly the whole of this class changing hands at recent rates. At Masterton, on Wednesday, sheep were short of advertised entries. •Good ewes and strong hoggets found a ready market, but poor and weak sorts failed to sell. No fat sheep came forward.. In cattle all classes were represented, and taken all round the yarding was a good one, both as regards number and quality. Nice quality beef, good steers, and strong young cattle moved off freely, but in cows and heifers we had some hard bargaining. At the close of the sale one pen only of cows remained unsold.
