NEW SOUTH WALES POLITICS. Received- July, 3, 9.58 a.m. SYDNEY, July 3. In the Assembly, Mr McGowen, Leader of the State Labour Party, criticised the immigration policy of the Government. He said he knew of cases in which men had lost places because immigrants offered to work for less wages. Mr Carruthers, reviewing the financial position of the State, said he started the financial year with a cash credit, including the public works and closer settlement funds, of £1,962,000. This could be operated without touching on the trust funds, which, with the surplus, amounted to five millions. He considered that the position justified him in remitting taxation.
