DYNAMITE IN COAL.

AUCKLAND, July 1. The presence of dynamite in household coal caused an explosion in a kitchen fire at the residence of Mr John Evans, at Devonport. Mrs Evans put a shovelful of coal on the fire and immediatey there was a terrific explosion. The stove was smashed to pieces, flying in all directions. Mrs Evans was struck on the left arm and leg, and was sligthly burned. Subsequent examination showed a box containing dynamite caps among the coal in the coalshed.
