VOLUNTEER MEDAL COMPETITIONS.
Following are the winners of the medals presented to the volunteers of the colony by the Defence Department for the current year: — Gold medal for the best shot in the North Island. Private Guy, Wellington Guards, 53. Gold and silver medal for the second best shot in the North Island. —Private Monk, Victoria Rifles, 51. Silver medal, Auckland Volunteer district— Private S. Clark, No. 3 Company, Ohinemuri Rifles, 50. Silver medal, Wellington volunteer district.—Private Williamson, Post and Telegraph Rifles, Wellington, 48. Gold Medal, for the best shot in the South Island.—Colour-Sergeant Duncan, Denniston Rifles, 54. Gold and silver medal for the second best shot in the South Island—Private Holdaway, Blenheim Rifles, 54. Silver medal, Nelson volunteer district. —Sergeant Chmg, Waimea Rifles, 53. Silver rnedal, Canterbury volunteer 'district.—Sergeant Waugh, Port Guards, Timaru, 50. Silver medal, Otago volunteer district. —Sergeant France, Gore Rifles, 52.
