THE DISTURBANCE IN IRELAND.
POLICE CHARGE A MOB. TWENTY-SIX PEOPLE INJURED. Received June 30, 4.30 p.m. LONDON, June 29. Thirteen out of seventeen defendants charged at Birr with removing cattle from a grazing farm were ordered to find bail of £lO each. They defiantly refused and were sent to Tullamore Gaol for two months. A crowd stoned 150 police, who were escorting the prisoners. The police were compelled to charge the mob. Twenty-six, including six policemen, were injured.
