BAYONET AND CAVALRY SWORD. Received June 28, 9.4 p.m. LONDON, June 28. The War adopted a new pattern of bayonet similar to that used in the Japanese army; also a new pattern sword.
WHEN THIEVES FALL OUT. Received June 28, 9.4 p.m. . LONDON, June 28. A man named Charles Smith and a woman called "Chicago May," have been committed for trial for shooting at and laming one Eddie Tauerin in London. The parties belong to a notorious gang of Anglo-American thieves. Tauerin latterly escaped from Devil's Island, where he was serving a sentence of ten years' imprisonment for forgery in France.
REPATRIATION OF CHINESE. Received June 28, 9.4 p.m. LONDON, June 28. Reuter's Johannesburg correspondent states that the principal mining and other business houses are retrenching in view of the forthcoming repatriation of Chinese. Land and housejproperty have considerably depreciated.
