HAUNUI.
(From a Correspondent.) The agitation in favour of the amalgamation of the Alfredton Riding with the Eketahuna County is being pushed forward vigorously, the majority of Alfredton ratepayers being in favour of the proposal. It is reported thai Mr Henry Bur-. ,ling has offered His fine property • (Brooklands) to the Government for closer settlement. Mr W. J. Blake * having resigned the position as postmaster, the office has been removed to Messrs Morris Bros*, residence. The residents are unanimous in thanking the late postmaster for the attention that he had Shown them during his term of office. Mr and Mrs F. Robinson are paying a short visit to friends in Christchurch and Dunedin. The many friends of Mrs Robinson will wish her speedy recovery from her illness. The mud in some places on the road is axle deep. As the result of a gun accident Mr Leach has lost the use of one of his eyes. Mrs Hamilton, who died at Petone recently, was a sister of Mr R. Harman.
