WEDDINGS.

A pretty wedding was solemnized at St. Matthew's Church, Masterton, yesterday afternoon, the contracting parties being Mr Lewis John Attwood, of Masterton, son of Mr Thos. Attwood, £and Miss Violet Emily Palamontain, eldest daughter of Mr John Palamontain. The bride, who was given away by Mr B. Iveson, looked handsome in a pretty navy blue tailor-made Eton costume with cream velvet cuffs and revers and trimmed with navy blue braid. She wore a white felt hat trimmed with tulle and red berries, and carried a prayer book. The bridesmaids were Misses Ivy and Olive Palamontain, sisters of the bride, and they were dressed in navy blue tailor-made Eton costumes, with blue velvet cuffs and collars, trimmed with braid, and wore white felt hats. They carried pretty bouquets. Mr J. Kitchener was best man, and the ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. M. Johnson. As the newly-married couple left the church, the Wedding March was played by Mrs Hunn. A large number of guests subsequently sat down to the wedding breakfast in the Foresters' Hall. The usual toasts were honoured, and good wishes extended to Mr and Mrs Attwood. ,The bridegroom's present to the bride was a gold half-moon brooch set with sapphires, and to the bridesmaids gold brooches each. The bride's present to the bridegroom Was a pair of gold sleeve-links. Mr and Mrs Attwood, who received a large number of handsome and costly wedding presents, hft by train for Napier, where the"honeymoon is to be spent. In the evening, at the residence of Mr and Mrs Butcher, the Masterton Fire Police, of which Mr Attwood is a member, were entertained.

NICOL—HERBERT. At Rongomai, on Wednedday last, Miss Hester Herbert, third daughter of Mrs J. Edwards, was married to Mr Dan Nicol, fifth son of the late Mr A. Nicol, of Pahautanui. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. COmpton, of Mangatainoka. The bride, who was given away by her step-father, was attired in a gown of cream nuns veiling, trimmed with rich cream lace, and wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms. The bridesmaids were Miss Grace Nicol (sister of the Bridegroom) and Miss Elsie Herbert (sister of the l bride). Mr Cessford Herbert (brother of the bride) was best man.
