Carterton then decided to protest to give the Star skipper a chance to prove his allegation, and to show him what the term 'professional' means. If Carterton's protest is upheld, which according to the rules of Rugby, it must be, Carterton will probably ask to let the result of the game stand." With regard to the above it may be mentioned that the Red Star Club never had any intention of entering a protest in connection with any Carterton player.
"The tour of the 'All Black' football toam has done more than anything to revive the interest in the Rugby game in England." That is the opinion of Mr Ernest Leicester, the leading actor in the "Human Hearts" company, who is a Rugby enthusiast. He was a centre forward in the Blackheath team in v t its palmy days. He believes British players learned a good lesson from the New Zealanders' visit and that when the calony sends another team Home it will not have nearly-so easy a run.
"ALL BLACK" PROFESSIONALS. LEAVE NEW ZEALAND IN AUGUST. The scheme for sending a team of professional Rugby players from New Zealand to play the Northern Union teams of England has not been a very live subject of late, but the scheme has been progressing slowly and surely. According to a Press Association telegram received yesterday, the Dunedin Star states that the professional team will positively leave New Zealand for England after the return of the New Zealand representative team from its tour of Australia, and it will include several members of the visiting team to the other side. A well-known Aucklander and "All Black" (presumably George Smith) will captain the professionl team. In view of the recognised weakness of the backs an effort will be made to strengthen that division from Australia.
