ALLEGED SLY GROGSELLING.
—. By Telegraph—Press Association. INVERCARGILL, June 26. Mr McCarthy, S.M., was occupied all day and up till late to-night hearing cases connected with the offences/ of sly grog-selling. Frank Coutts was charged with selling whisky at Waikiwi, without being licensed to do so. Defendant pleaded not guilty, and elected to be tried by jury. He was committed for trial. The same defendant and Martin Campbell were charged with attempting by threats to dissuade persons from giving evidence in a criminal matter, viz., the recent sly grog charges against them. Both defendants were committed for trial. The hearing of a charge against a ( man named Morrah of keeping and exposing liquor for sale within a no-license area is still unfinished.
