The pianist attached to a travelling show had rather an exciting experience in a township situated not a hundred miles from Palmerston South, one evening last week, says the Palmerston Times. It had been announced that the exhibition of pictures would be followed by a dance, and about thirty young people paid a small charge for admission to the latter function. The "management," ( after collecting the admission money, j quietly took its departure, and the ' dancers were left to the tender mercies of the pianist. After playing a couple of dances, the dispenser of music refused to go on, and the dancers demanded the return of their money. The pianist was, however, obdurate, and after allowing the ladies to depart, the young men locked the doors, and kept the professor of the pianoforte a prisoner for a couple of hours. Ultimately a compromise was arrived at. The pianist was promised his freedom on condition that he sang three comic songs. After some parley the terms were accepted, and the prisoner was ultimately allowed to depart in peace. Cbamberlai n's Cough Eemedy is good for any member of the family. It cures coughs of all kinds.
