The special correspondent of the Christchurch Press, at the Palmerston North dairy show, states it is understood that the donor who, as the Minister of Lands announced, had given £I,OOO towards the establishment of a Government herd of shorthorns, is none other than Mr McNab himself. The Otago Education Board has carried the following resolution in reference to the Education Department's circular containing the new regulations touching the conveyance of children to the back-blocks schools:—"That this Board, while recognising that the regulations for the conveyance of children, issued on June 4th, are a slight advance upon those previously in operation, are impelled to point out that they still fall far short of meeting requirements, and again submit that the only satisfactory method of dealing with the subject will be to place conveyance unrestrictedly in the hands of the Boards, trusting to their dealing with each case upon its merits, and with due regard to economical administration." Can't Shake it Oit. How often we hear persons with colds make the above remark; but Dr. Sheldon's New Discovery shakes them off promptly and effectively in a few doses. Obtainable at H. E.
