WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.
Mcjssr3 Levin and Co., Ltd., report as follows regarding Friday's sale:— We offered 25 bales wool, 1,600 skins, 700 hides and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. Wool: There was a larger attendance of buyers than usual. Prices were firm at last sale rates. We quote:—Coarse crossbred {■:..! to 9£d, rough and inferior 6d to 7sd, pieces and bellies 4Jd to G&d, locks 3d to 4d, crutchings (good) 6|d to lid, crutchings (seedy) 5d to 6d. Skins: There was good demand at last sale rates. We quote:— Merino 7d to Bd, fine crossbreds BJd to Dd, coarse crossbreds 8d to BJd, dqad skins 6Jd to 7Jd, dead hoggets 6Jd to 7Jd, dry pelts 5&(1 to 6Jd, lamb skins 7£d to Bgd, green skins 5s lOd to 7s, lamb pelts lis to 4s. Tallow: Firm. Parcels in shipping order, £26; tins £l7 to £22 15s, rough fat £l6 10s. Horsehair: ls-to Is 3d per lb. Horns: 8s .to 17s 9d per 100. Hides: 'there was excellent spirit shown and prices advanced |d to Jd per lb. We quote:—Ox hides (extra heavy) none offering, ox hides (701bs and over) 6Jd to 6§d. ox hides (501bs to 701bs) s|d to 7sd, cow hides 5d to calf skins (best) 6d to 7§d, calf skins (cut and slippy) 3d to 4d. hides (cut and slippy) 4d to sid, stag hides 3&d to 4gd, bull hides 3Jd to 4Jd. The next sale will be held on Friday, June 21st, 1907.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report:—Buyers were in attendance in large numbers, and competition for all classes was keen and spirited. Prices were in advance of last series by about Jd to Jd on wool and skins, and about id to £d on hides. The quantity offered in our catalogue was hot large, due no doubt to the excessively wet weather retarding matching, etc., on the various farms. We quote as follows: Wool: Medium crossbred 8d to B|d, sliped lambs lid, crutchings, light in condition, bright and clean 6|d to 7:ld, heavy and seedy 6d to 6|d, inferior 4£d to 5Jd. Skins: Crossbred, (sound pelted) BJd to 8&d, crossbred, shoris 7|d to Bd, crossbred, inferior 7|d to 7&d, lambs 8d to B|d. dead and broken s£d to 6Jd, pelts s|d to 6|d, green 6s Id to 6s 2d. Hides: Ox (651bs to 72ibs) 6d to 6Jd per lb, under 651bs sjd to 6|d, cows (451bs to 501bs) 5Jd to s|d, under 451bs 5d to sgd, calf 71dto7id. Horse hides, 13s each. Tallow: In tins 22s 9d to 23s per cwt. Horns: 14s 6d per 100. The JNiew Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows:—We offered a representa- , tive catalogue of wool, skins, hides and a small lot of tallow. There was a good attendance of buyers, and we are pleased -to report a slight improvement in prices. We quote :~ Wool: Rough crossbred 7Jd to 7|d. crutchings (clean) 6Jd to 7£d, crutchings (seedy) 4Jd to 6d. Sheepskins: Crossbred pelts 6|d to 7Jd, inferior and bi-oken pelts 2£d to 5Jd, halfbred and three-quarter bred woolled crossbred BJd to B|d, lambskins BJd to 9d, greenskins 4s to 6s lOd each, green lambskins 3s to 4s 9d. Hides: Ox, medium s§d to s£d, cow 5Jd to sfd, damaged 3d to 4£d, calfskins, sound 6Jd to 7|d, calfskins, damaged 2d to 5Jd, bull hides to 4|d. Tallow: In good demand at late rates.
