CAPE COLONY AND NATAL.
NAVAL CONTRIBUTIONS. Received June 9, 4.49 p.m. LONDON, June 8. Reuter's correspondent at Capetown states, that it is understood that the Admiralty has agreed to the naval contributions of the Cape and Natal being spent locally. A portion of the contributions will be devoted to the upkeeo of ships provided by the Admiralty. The rest will be spent in the improvement of defences, and the establishment of a nucleus for a colonial navy composed of submarines or destroyers. Local legislation is to settle the arrangements and provide for the service of volunteers anywhere abroad. Dr. Smartt, Cape Commissioner i'or Public Works, announces that the Cape and Natal will henceforth act juintly as if the volunteers of the two countries were a federal force.
