By Telegraph—Press Association. -* WELLINGTON, June 3. •*" The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, June Ist: The mutton market is steady, but the demand is only moderate. Holders are firm. The supply of light-weight mutton is increasing. The average price is 4d for Canterbury brands and 3fd for North Island. The lamb market remains firm and there is good demand for all classes, especially heavy weights. Canterbury and other brands are bringing s£d. Beef is firm and prices continue to advance. Hindquarters and forequarters are quoted at 3£d and 3R respectively. The butter market is firm, and superior grades are in demand. New Zealand supplies are running short and choicest qualities are quoted at 995. '.The cheese market is firm, with j an improved demand for New Zealand makes; white cheese is quoted at 67s and colpured at 655.
