MAJOR CUP COMPETITION. UNITED v. KIA KAHA. The United and Kia Kaha teams met at Lansdowne, yesterday, in the competition for the Major Cup. The teams were as follow:—United —Goalkeeper, Hatch; fullbacks, Rees and Denton; halves, Isaacs, Carley and Nicol; forwards, Winter, Tooby, Wing, Baker and R. Hooper. Kia Kaha—Goalkeeper, Truscott, fullbacks, Thynne and Gordon; halves Anderson, Donald and Richards: forwards Nixon, Rue, Hughes, Williams and King. The game was a very even and interesting one, and was productive of good play on the part of several players in both teams. The newly-formed United Club were, by good" combined play, able to score two goals daring the first spell. The goals were scored by Winter and Baker. Kia Kaha kept forcing the play for some time, and through the agency of Williams scored a goal. These were the only scores in the match. The second half of the game was keenly contested, and was slightly in favour of the Kia Kahas, though they did not increase their Score. Time after time they invaded the United's territory, but the latter team put up an excellent defence. The game thus ended —United 2 goals; Kia Kaha, 1 goal. Mr S. A. Noble Campbell was referee. CARTERTON A v. KNOX. The Carterton A team journeyed to Masterton yesterday, and met the

Knox Club at Lansdowne. The game was a very one-sided one, the visitors registering 10 goals while Knox failed to score. Goals were scored for the winners by Bunny (2), King (2), W. Fisher (2), Lindop (2), J. Fisher, and Reid. Mr J. O'Meara was referee.

W.F.C.A. v. GREYTOWN. At Grey town, yesterday, W.F.C.A. defeated Greytown by one goal to nil. Whitt scored the winning goal after a brilliant run along the wing. The ground was very heavy, and prevented fast play. Nevertheless, both sides exhibited good form. The combination of the W.F.C.A. was superior to that of the southern team, the latter being most prominent in their forward play. Ihe only score of the game was registered in the first spell. Greytown missed one particularly easy chance of scoring. As the result of a late start, the last quarter of an hour of the game was played in semi-darkness, making it practically impossible for the players to see the ball. Richards (back), La Roche and Whitt (wings), Hall (goalkeeper), and Pragnell (forward) rendered excellent service for the winners. Balfour was the most conspicuous player for Greytown. Mr Humphries was referee.

A Huia rush, in which Misses Barr, Rayner and Smith were conspicuous, put Glengarry on the deI fensive again, but the ball was hit over the line. J Devonport and Gardner removed play back again into the Huia territory. Gradually, however, the Huias worked the ball down the field, and : Misses Barr, Hooper, and Smith made an attack on the Glengarry goal, but Misses Gordon and de Lisle cleared. For the remainder of the spell the Huias -were attacking. On play resuming, Misses Hood and McKenzie carried the ball into the Huia territory, but Miss Sutton relieved. Good play by Misses Richards, Hooper and Rayner removed play to the Glengarry territory, and an exciting piece of play followed. The Huias made a determined effort to score in front of the goal, but Miss Gordon cleared in fine style.
