' If elecGbd ni> best services will be at your disposal. Roll up and vote on Thursday. i'ours rtspeotfully, R. KIiAHAGEN. TO THE TRUST LANDS TRUST ELECTOR*. Ladies and gentlemen,— I have been requested by a I number of parents, who know, the deep interest I have taken in the affairs of the Trust for nearly twenty years, to offer myself as a Candidate at the forthcoming election. I have consented to do so, and desire to make the following brief statement of my yiews, and policy if elected:

EVERY CHILD in the Masterton Small Farm Set dement should receive some educational benefit from the Trust Endowment. Primary education, Technical education, Secondary education, and Physical education, should be equitably dealt with in making grants. OVER NINETY PER CENT, of the children of this community have to leave school and go to work after passing the Fifth or Sixth Standard. As much as possible should be done for these, in order to give them a good chance in life. Not only would I put all scholars on an equal footing by supplying books, etc., but I would advocate a grant to every school to help to provide a swimming bath, convertible into a gymnasium for winter use. TECHNICAL EDUCATION in Masterton needs at the present time the help of its staunchest friends. For twelve years I have given ungrudgingly of my time in connection with the inauguration and management of the Masterton < Technical School, which is conducted under the auspices of the Trust Lands Trust. One of the Managers has always occupied a seat on the Trust. It is very desirable that the latter body should be kept in close touch with the working of the Technical School. If elected, I should do all in my power to develop the Technical School, and make it as useful and attractive as possible to the young people who desire to improve themselves through its means. My knowledge and experience would, I am sure, be of service in this connection. SPECULATIVE BUILDING I should not be in favour of. [t is the duty of the Trust to allocate its income in terms of the Act, and not to speculate with it, or hoard it up. I would assist in developing the Trust property to the best advantage, but on safe lines. My experience in connection with the letting of the Church Acre sections proves that this can be done. EXCHANGE OF SITES I should be strongly in favour of, on an equitable basis approved by the Trust Lands Trust voters. The Trust has "missed its market," and must make the best bargain now nossible. THE COLLEGE QUESTION. In view of the fact that scholars can and do qualify to enter the University from our own High School, I would be guided entirely by the opinion of the voters on this matter. In conclusion, I desire to say that I have no axe to grind for myself in standing for the Trust. I desire to do the best I can for your children.— Yours faithfully, W. H. JACKSON, i Masterton District High School. MASTERTON COUNTY ELECTORAL ROLL. W. P. JAMES, Stipendiary Magistrate. Magistrate's Court, Masterton, 28th May, 1907.
