TINUI.

(Prom Our Own Correspondent.)

TINUI, May 24

The Farmers' Union social, which was jpostponed on the 9th instant, owing to the severe weather, was held on the 23rd instant, and proved a great success. u The evening was fine, and a large number of people were present, who, judging from the "recalls" and hearty rounds of applause accorded to the singers, thoroughly enjoyed the concert. Mr H. A. Nevins, the Union's President, with the assistance of several other members, deserve a special word-of praise for the success of their efforts. Messrs Iggulden, Jago, Hall and Ballard very kindly journeyed from Masterton to assist with the concert. The singing of these gentlemen delighted the audience. Mr H. Hall, in his comic sketches, kept the crowd in an uproar of laughter. Miss Cameron (Okau), who has a powerful soprano voice, soon installed herself a favourite, and had to submit to several recalls. The following was the programme:—Pianoforte solo, Mr Ballard; duet, "Army and Navy," Messrs Iggulden and Jago; song, "Sunshine and Rain," Miss Cameron; song, "Tell Her I Love Her so," Mr Hall; song, "In Old Madrid," Mr Jago; song, "Smuggler Bill," Mr Iggulden; song, "Bonny Banks and Brays," Miss Cameron; song, "The Gallants of England," Mr Iggulden; song, "The Romany Lass," Mr Jago; songs, "I Want to Go To Morrow," "He Was a Married Man," "The Grand Hotel," and "I Want You to Notice My Leggings," Mr Hall. The acompaniments were played by Miss Groves and Mr Ballard. After the concei't, a dance followed, which was also largely attended. First-class dance music was supplied by Mr Bollard.
