VESSELS ASHORE.

By Telegraph—PressJ Association. HOKITIKA, May 23. When being towed out to sea this morning, the schooner Eunice took ground on the south spit just at the harbour mouth. The steamer Jane Douglas, in endeavouring to tow the vessel off, wfls driven on the south beach. The vessel is in a good position for refloating next tide without the necessity of discharging her cargo of timber. The Jane Douglas is fully laden with a cargo for the South Westland trip, and will be high and dry at low water, when she will probably discharge. There are hopes of refloating her also on the next tide. The sea is smooth, and neither boat has so far suffered any damage.
