Give and take play followed for a few minutes, and then the High School forwards broke away, but Misses Sutton and Hester removed play to the centre. Gradually the Huia forwards worked, the ball down to the School 25, and eventually, from a penalty bully, Miss Blomquist scored a goal for Huia. The latter team attacked vigorously again, but Miss M. McKenzie relieved with a fine run. For some time the School were busy defunding their line, Misses Hooper, Smith, Barr and Hester doing good work. Combined play by the School forwards placed the Huia on the defence for some time. Give and take play followed, and half-time sounded without further score.
Play was very fast and interesting in the second spell. High School immediately attacked, good play being shown by Misses A. Jackson, D. Jackson, M. McKnnzie and C. Eiliott. The Huia's defence was solid, and although their goal was repeatedly in danger, they prevented a score. Towards the end of the game, the Huiaa broke away, and after some stubborn play Miss Barr scored a goal for them. The School girls rallied, and for the remainder of the spell had the best of the play. The game ended with the scores Huia, 2 goals High School, nil. Though beaten, the High School had slightly the best of the game, only the solid defence of the Huia's preventing a score.
