LYNCHERS FIRED ON.
SEVERAL PEOPLE KILLED. Received May 23, 9.20 a.m.. LONDON, May 22. While a mob of lynchers was searching the house of Sam Padgett, a negro living in Macon (Georgia), whose son Flem was suspected of assaulting white women, the inmates of the house fired, killing one white man and wounding four. The mob killed four of the Padgetts, including two women, but allowed Flem to escape.
