COLLAPSE OF A STRIKE. Received May 23, 9.30 p.m. NEW YORK, May 23. The longshoremen's strike at New York has collapsed. RAND STRIKE BECOMES GENERAL. Received May 23, 9.30 p.m. PRETORIA, May 3. The strike on the Rand has become general, comprising the white miners of 43 mines. Some of the managers have warned the strikers that they will not be reinstated.
