OBITUARY.

MR G. H. FINCH. Received May 23, 9.20 a.m. LONDON, May 22. Obituary: Mr G. H. Finch, Conservative member of the House of Commons for Rutland; aged 72. ("The Right Hon. George Henry Finch," says a writer in the Pall Mall Gazette, "is a member of the old-fashioned description, who votes straight and speaks seldom, is a Rutlandshire county gentleman, a magistrate, and hon. major of the Leicestershire Yeomanry. He was at New College, Oxford, wltwd was born in 1835. He has represented Rutlandshire since 1867, and will probably continue to do so as long as he cares for the honour. He is, fiscally, a Balfourian. He was made F.C. in 1902." At the last election, after a number of unopposed returns for Rutlandshire, an opponent cropped up in Mr Hi W. Pearson, who was defeated by 483 votes out of 3,611 polled.)
