SHOOTING COMPETITION.

By Telegraph—Press Association.

CHRISTCHURCH, May 19,

The annual Volunteer Shooting Competition for the Island and District Medals, which was commenced at Timaru on Thursday, was continued at Redcliffs on Saturday, but a strong sou'-wester that prevailed caused the attendance to be small and the shooting much below the average. The following were the best scores:—Sergeant Jack 38, Private White 37, Sergeant Williamson, 33, Bugler Waddington 31, Sergeant Murphy 30, Private Earle 30. Sergeant Waugh, of Timaru, who made 50 points on Thursday, therefore wins the medal for the Canterbury district.
