FARMERS' CONFERENCE.

By Telegraph—Press Association. . NEW PLYMOUTH, May 15. The annual Taranaki Provincial Conference of the Farmers' Union opened to-day. Sixteen branches were represented. A remit requesting the Government to remove the blackleg quarantine from Taranaki was rejected. Motions were carried opposing the Land Bill and opposing any methods of dealing with native , lands which would create Maori landlordism. A motion was carried in favour of securing of the freehold' on equitable terms to native leaseholders, under the West Coast. Settlement Reserves.
