MASTERTON TRUST LANDS TRUST.

ANNUAL REPORT. The following is the annual report « to be submitted at the annual meeting on Thursday, May 16th, 1907 : Your Trustees have much pleasure in submitting a report of the work done and a statement of accounts for the year ended March 31st, 1907. We regret that we have been unable to get the balance-sheet audited in time the annual meeting. When the audit inspector has certified to it the balance-sheet will be printed and circulated through the daily papers. The overdraft, which on April Ist, 1906, stood at £293 16s 7d, has been reduced during the year to £54 lis, and the sum of £BOO has been paid off the Town Hall loan. The income for the past year from the leasehold, and the weekly rentals has been £1,244 5s 6d. The following grants have been made:— District High School, capitation, £95; District High School, special furnishing science school, £150; District High School, agricultural class, £SO; District High School, tool-house and fencing, £25; St. Patrick's School, ' £27; St. Patrick's School, piano, £10; Fernridsje School, £25; Fernridge'School." piano, £10; Te Ore Ore School. £10; Technical School, £100: Masterton Municipal Band, £2O; Public Library. £25: Public Park Tea Kiosk, £2O; Physical Training School, £10; Masterton Fire Police, £5; Masterton Fire Brigade, £10; Ambulance Corps, £5; South Brass Band, £2 2s; Y.M.C.A. Association, £2 lis. Total, £601135. In furtherance of the scherrfe of agricultural classes in connection with the Masterton District High School your Trustees, have granted the sum of £25 for the erection of a toolhouse. The Scholarship Endowment Fund now stands with a credit of £94 18s 9d. Out of this fund the sum of £4O was given this year by your Trustees to the holders of scholarships gained by pupils from the Masterton Schools. The gross receipts of the Town Hall were £282 14s, showing a slight increase over last year. The retiring members at the annual . election to be held on Thursday, May 30th, are Messrs Daniell and Wagg, who are eligible for re-election. During the last session an Empowering Act was passed through the House authorising the Trustees to borrow money for building purposes, but before this can be acted on it will be necessary to ha ye a poll of the Trust Lands voters consenting to it. In the act provision was also made for increasing the numbers of the Trustees to nine. .
