VOLCANIC ERUPTIONS.
Received May 13, 8.26 a.m. ROME, May 12. The eruption of the volcano on Stromboli, one of the Lipari Islands, off the coast of Italy, has increased. There are loud rumblings, and the volcano is throwing masses of stones, ashes, and lava towards the eastern and inhabited portions of the island. On Mount Etna new craters are opening, and are giving forth immense columns of smoke. Mr Frank Perpet, volcanologist, who has visited the volcanoes, reports that the disturbances resemble those which preceded the eruption of Vesuvius.
