WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES,
Messrs Levin and Company, Ltd., •report as follows regarding: Friday's sale:—We held our usual fortnightly sale to-day, offering 20 bales wool, 1,500 skins, 500 hides, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. Wool —There was a good attendance of buyers, tout as a result of lower prices in London, prices were lower > than previous sales. We quote: Coarse crossbred 7d to 8&d, rough and •inferior s£d to 7d, pieces and bellies 4Jd to 6d, locks 3d to 4d. SkinsThere was a good demand at last sale prices. We quote: Merinos 7d to 7|d, fine crossbreds BJd to 9d,'coarse crossbreds 8d to Bid, dead skins 6Jd to 7£d, dead hoggets 6jcl to 7|d, dry pelts s&d to 6|d, lamb skins 7Jd to B£d, green lamb skins 3s lOd to 4s 3d, .green skins 5s to 6s 4d, lamb pelts |Ms 6d to 3s 6d. Tallow—Firm. Parcels in shipping order £26, tins £l7 to £2l, rough fat, £l6 10s. Horsehair—-Is to Is 3d per lb. ' Horns—B3 to 22s 9d per 100 Hides—A further fall has taken place in Melbourne and ; Sydney markets, and prices here fell a farthing to a halfpenny. We quote: Ox hides, extra heavy, 6d to 6Jd; ox hides, 701bs and over, s|»d to 6d; ox hides, 50lbs and to 701bs, s§d to s|d; cow hides, 5d to sgd; calf skins, best 6d to 7d; calf skins, slippy, 3d to 4d; calf skins, cut, 3d to 4d; cut and slippy hides, 4d to 4Jd' stag hides, «3Jd to 4d; bull hides, 3-Jd to 4&d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report:—At our sale we offered a catalogue of 23 bales and a number of sacks of wool, about 1,200 skins, 150 hides, and a quantity of odd lots of tallow. There was a good attendance of 'buyer's, but prices were lower for hides by about Jd and for skins id to ljd. Wool did not show any material change. We quote:—Wool—Halfbred, medium to .good, 9d to 10jj}d; crossbred, medium and rough, 8d to B|d; coarse and seedy, 7d to 7£d; lamb crutchings, s£d to 6Jd; ewe crutchings, cleaned, up to 7d; ewe crutchings, seedy, 4d to 5Jd; pieces, 4fd up to 8d for some extra light tine lots. Sheepskins—Crossbred pelts 6Jd to 7£d; inferior and broken peits 2d to sd, half-woolled crossbred 7Jd to B§d, lambskins' 8d to BJd, halfbred short woolled 8d to BJd, green skins 4s to . 5s 7d, green lambskins 3s 6d to 4s Id. ..Hides—Ox, s£d to s£d; cow, 41d to si|d; slippy and cut hides, 3Jd to 4Jd; calf, sound, sjd to 6id; calf, damaged, Id to 3d. Tallow—ln boxes and tins, 21s 6d to 22s 3d; rough fat, inferior, 14s 6d per cwt. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report as follows:—Wool—In sympathy with London market, prices were, easier all round. We • quote as follows: Medium crossbred, 7Jd to Sfd; sliped lambs, 9£d; greasy lambs, 7&dto B|d; crutchings, 5d to 5Jd; pieces, 6d to s£d; lock, 2id to 2j£d; washed pieces, 4|d. Sheepskins —Market was easier by |d per lb. Medium crossbreds, 8d to B£d; inferior, 6gd to 7gd; shorts, 6Jd to 7d; broken, 4fd to sid; dead, 7£d fa 7|d; -medium lambs, Bdtoßgd; inferior and dead lambs, 7idto7£d; lambs pelts, 6id; goat skins, 'ls each; Hnigglers, 4d to 5Jd; pelts (nothing offering), inferior, 3|d to 5Jd. Market showed a further dein sympathy with the Austramarket. Ox, 691bs to 781bs, 6Jd ■Tper lb; 52lbs to 601bs, s|d per lb to J 6|d per lb; cows, 421b5.t0 501bs, 5Jd I to 5Jd per lb; ox, cut and slippy, 4d I tosJdper lb; cow, cut and slippy, I 4d to 4ld per lb; yearlings, s£d per I lb; calf, best, up toJj7d; mediums, ojd to s|d, slippy 3d. Tallow—Market showed a considerable improvement compared with last sale rates, and for three lines in shipping order we realized from £26 5s to £26 15s per 1 ton; in tins, 21s to 21s 9d per cwt; I -fat, ,19s. ■
