MASTERTON RAM FAIR.

SUGGESTIONS ADOPTED. At the meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association, on Saturday, considerable 'discussion took place as to the manner in which the annual Ram Fair should be conducted. It was agreed by all the members present that the present' system in vogue was unsatisfactory. Mr J. McGregor stated that last year 2,900 rams had to be sold in two days, and consequently the sale had to be rushed through. t The following suggestions were received from the Ram Fair Committee:— ' (1) That a \endor offering at least ten rams have the option of submitting singly 50 per cent, of rams entered at a fee of £s per head, the remaining 50 per cent, to be submitted in pels of five at a fee of 13 per head, all single sheep to be drawn and catalogued first. After considerable discusaionas to the advisability of offering rams in pens of five, Mr J. McGregor moved, and Mr' Morris seconded, that the suggestion .be adopted. The motion was carried. (2) That all studs be submitted on the first day of the Ram Fair, after 1 p.m. This was adopted after a short discussion. (3) That the entry fee for stuas be 8s per head. Adopted. (4) That if, in the opinion of the Ram Fair Committee, any entry or entries are made ostensibly with the view of taking undue advantage of the r jles governing the sale, the said Committee be empowered to use their discretion as to the desirability of placing a portion of such entry in a later drawing. Adopted. (5) That this meeting considers that the Ram Fair ring is totally inadequate to meet present requirements, and urgently suggests an improvement. (6) That a race be temporarily erected at each end and outside the present yards to enable sheep that have beian submitted to be again expeditiously penned, and that more small pen accommodation be provided at entrance and exit. (7) That alterations be made to enable the clerks to be seated lower than at present, and that the rostrum be extended into the ring another three feet, and at its present height. The last three suggestions weie referred to the Ground Committee, withta recommendation that they be given effect to. Mr 0. C. Cooper moved, and Mr J. C. McKillop seconded, that the Ram Fair commence at 10.30 a.m. and that no adjournment be made for luncheon. The motion was carried.
