RIOTING IN INDIA.
SITUATION "SERIOUS. CALCUTTA, May 10. The situation at Lahore is serious. Sir D.C. J. Ibbetson, Governor of the Punjab, has postponed .hiffdeparture|and has closely inspected the defences. ..,.;...-,.., Laj Patria is a pleader in the Punjab chief court. He was organiser, financier, and inspirer of se-itious violence. The Government's bold step in deporting him has startled the Hindoos, who counted upon the Government's inaction. - Later reports from Lahore stated that the natives are overawed by the military. Laj Patria has been deported to the Andaman Islands.
ANOTHER AGITATOR •ARRESTED. Received May 12, 5 p.m.CALCUTTA, May 11? Ajitsings, another prominent agitator, has been arrested at Punjab.
