PRINCE FUSHIMI. Received May 9, 8.35 a.m. LONDON, May 8. The Grand Cross of the Bath, has been conferred on Prince Fushimi, the Envoy from Japan, who has been negotiating with France. At a "„banquet at Buckingham Palace King Edward and Prince Fushimi made felicitous and cordial speeches. DISINHERITED. i Received May 9, 9 a.m. BUDAPEST, May 8. The Countess Festica's father has disinherited her for marrying a Gipsy violinist, named Nyark. He also revokes a gift of a house in Budapest worth £IO,OOO, leaving the Countess penniless. BRITISH TRADE. Received May 9, 11 a.m. LONDON, May 8. The British Board of Trade returns show that the.imports in April increased by £9,727,000, and the exports increased by £7,384,000, compared with the previous April. The increase in exports is due to a big increase in articles wholly or mainly manufactured. The imports of raw material are six and a half millions above the imports of the previous April, including four millions for textiles. THE FAR EAST. Received May 9, 9 a.m. PARIS, May 8. M. Kurmo, Japanese Ambassador to France, in an interview with Le Matin, declared that there would soon be four Powers pledged to maintain the status quo in the Far East. Japan, he added, was ready to conclude treaty with the United States.

Many have been engaged on merchant steamers. "■ i i ii SIR JAMES FERGUSSON'S ESTATE. Received LONDON, May 8. The personal estate in Britain of the late Sir James Fergusson has been sworn at £10,073. (Sir James Fergusson was a former Governor of New Zealand, and was killed in the Kingston earthquake.)
