Messrs Dalgefcy and Co., Ltd., report on their Masterton sale, held yesterday, as follows:—More sheep came forward than were advertised. Bidding under the hammer for good sorts as brisk; inferior ewes in poor condition were hard to quit. We quote —2 tooth wethers up to 17s 4d, very small 2 tooth wethers and ewes 13s 4d; ewes in lamb, • medium quality, up to 15s; empty eweß, to 14s; cull ewes in lamb, to 12s; lambs, 10s 6d to 12s; cull lambs, to 8s; fat ewes to 15s 4d. Cattle--3J year steers to £5, 2 J to 3 year steers to £4, fatccwa (medium quality) to £4, 18 months heifers 32s 6d, empty heifera £3 2s, weanersto 20s. > Pigs —Slips and porkers to 17s 6d, weaners Bs.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantie Agency Co., Ltd., report on their Masterton stock sale, (yesterday:—Entries in both sheep- and cattle were in excess, of advertised numbers. For all wethers, good-conditioned empty ewes and lambs, we had plenty of competition, making a clearance of all this class. In in lamb the demand was for jeally good sorts, which found a ready market at advanced prices, but poorer sorts were neglected. In cattle we bad a very heavy yarding, the bulk of' the entries bsing cows. The demand for steers and weaners was not equal to that of last sale, the majority having to be passed, a few lots finding purchasers privately. Store wethers made 16s,"fat ewes 15s Bd, forward ewes 13s 6d to 15s, best quality breeding ewes 16s Bd, others lis 3d to 12s 6d, lambs 10s 9d, culls 7s 6d to 8s 7d, 3-year steers £4 17s 6d to £5, 2 to 2J-year steers £2 17s tq £3, prime fat cows and heifers £5, fat heifers £4, forward heifers £3 to £3 7s, forward bullocks £5 15s, good weaner calves to 18s, weaner pigs Bs.
