MILFORD SOUND.

A NEW PASS DISCOVERED. I By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, May 7. Donald Sutherland, the Hermit of Milford Sound, writes aa follows: "Owing to the Exhibition the number of our visitors came short of that of last season. This applies specially to teachers. At the end of February last I discovered a pass long anticipated, at the head of the Cheddon River. It is about 4,000 feet odd high, timbered in the valley, and similar to McKinnon's in appearance. This would shorten the distance to Lake Wakatipu considerably via Holly ford Valley, and therefore minimise the rough passage over the proposed track via Te Anau, and there is more open country to traverse. I have named it the Milford Sound Pass."
