STOCK MARKET.

MATAWHERO STUD STOCK SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd,, held a sale of purebred Shorthorn cattle and purebred Lincoln sheep, on account of the' Trustees of McMaster's Estate, at. Matawhero, Featherston, on Saturday. This sale was advertised for the Thursday, but on account of heavy floods it was postponed. Several probable buyers from Hawera and elsewhere were unable to wait for the sale, but notwithstanding this there was a good representative attendance of buyers from Marlborough, Hawke's Bay, Manawatu and other districts, besides all parts of the Wairarapa. The sale was the largest of its kind which has ever been held in the Wairarapa, and was a decided success from every point- of view. I Both sheep and cattle were a credit j to the breeders, and despite the reI cent severe weather which had been J experienced, their appearance was very favourably commented upon by those present. Bidding throughout was spirited, and at times exceptionally animated, every line finding purchasers under the hammer. Messrs McMaster had every detail for the working of the sale carefully planned, and although there was a particularly lengthy, catalogue, the whole, with the exception of a few hack horses, were sold during the afternoon.
