OPAKI QUOITS CLUB.
(Special to the Age.)
The attendance at the monthly meeting of the Opaki Quoits Club, on Saturday, was particularly good, despite the fact that the weather was threatening. The rain, however, held off, allowing those present to spend a very pleasant afternoon. Sixteen ladies competed for Mrs Searle's trophy, which after some very close finishes was won by Miss Chamberlain, Mrs Duckett being second. The men's monthly match was well contested by upwards of twenty members, resulting in a win for R. Hunt, with S. Tankersley second and H. Duckett third. The final round for Mr Pauling's trophy was played, the winner being E. Harford. During the afternoon Mr Roy Tankersley presented Miss V. Petersen with Miss Tankersley's trophy; Miss Chamberlain with Mr C. Petersen's and Mrs Thomas with Mr H. Christensen's trophy. Mr Wyeth stated that Mr E. W. Payton had donated a handsome trophy for competition among the men. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Payton. The ladies who served afternoon tea were accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
