WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.
Messrs Levin ' and Co., Ltd., report as follows regarding Friday's sale: —'We held our usual fortnightly sale to-day, offering 30 bales wool, 3,0U0 skins, 600 hides and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. Wool: There was a good attendance of buyers, but bidding lacked confidence, buyers apparently anticipating a fall when the sale 3 open in London next Tuesday. We quote:—Coarse crossbred 7Jd to 9±d, rough and inferior 7d to 7Jd, pieces and bellies 4£d to 6d, locks 3d to 4|d. Skins were also easier and prices were irregular, and fell from |d to Id per pound. We quote:—Merinos 7d to 7f d, fine crossbreds BJd to 9d, coarse crossbred* 8d to B£d, dead skins 6sd to 7Jd, dead hoggets 6£d to 7,td, dry pelts 5Jd to. 7d, lamb skins 7sd to B|d, green lamb skins 4s 3d to 4s 86, green skins 5s 6d to 5s 9d, lamb pelts Is 6d to 33. Tallow: Easier. Parcels in shipping order £24, tins £l7 to £2l, rough fat £l6 6s. Horsehair: Is to Is 3d per lb. Horns: 8s to 22s 9d per 100. Hides: In sympathy with the fall in Melbourne and Sydney markets prices declined here id. We quote:— Ox hides (extra heavy) none offering, ox hides (701b and over) 6Jd to 6§d, ox hides (501b to 701b) Gd to 6gd, cow hide* 5Jd to 51d, calf skins (best) 6d to 7d, calf skins (slippy) 3d to 4d, calf skins . . (cut) 3d to 4d, cut and slippy hides 4d to sd, stag hides 4-J to 4£ d, bull hides 34d to 4^d.' The next sale will be held on Friday, May 10th. 1907. The New Zealand / Loan and Mercantile Agency Co/,'Ltd., report:— At our xortnighly sale on Friday we offered 25 bales and a number of sacks of wool, a fairly large quantity of skins and hides and a small lot of tallow. In sympathy with the • uncertain feeling in the wool markets of Europe, which' recent cables indicate, v our local sales today displayed an easier tons, bidding lacked spirit and prices must be quoted lower than those ruling a fortnight ago for all classes of produce. Wo should decline in values to be about £d per poun d for wool, Jd to gd for skins and id to Id. per pound for hides. We quote: — Wool: Coarse crossbred BJd to 9d, rough and seedy crossbred 7Jd to Bd, lambs (crutchings) 5Jd to 6d, ewes (crutchings, seedy) 4Jd to 6£d, pieces 3fd to sd. Sheepskins: Crossbred pelts 7d to BJd, inferior and broken pelts 2&d to 6d, half-woolled crossbred 8d to 9d, lamb skins B£d to 9d per lb, green skins 4s to 5s 6d, green lamb skins 3s 9d to 4s 3d. Hides: Only inferior lot forward. We quote:— Ox 5Jd to sgd, cow 5d to s£d, slippy and cut 3£d to 4|d, calf (sound) 5Jd, calf (damaged) 2d to 4d. Tallow: In tins to 20s per cwt. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—We held onr usual sale of wool, skins and hides on Friday afternoon. The attendance of buyers was not large and bidding was Jacking in spirit. Our catalogue comprised oddments of wool, and a good showing in skins and hides. Prices throughout the sale were much easier than those ruling at last sale, wool being in buyers' favour by Jd to £d, skins by id, and hides from Jd to gd. We quote as under:— Wool: Medium crossbred SJd to 9d, inferior crossbred 7|d to Bd, lambs (inferior) 7d,, crutchings 4Jd to 6jd, pieces €Jd. Skins: Crossbred medium wools Bsd to 9d, shorts 74d to B£d, lambs BJd to 9d, dead and broken 6Jd to lid, green skins 5s Id to 5s 9d, pelts 7£d to 7§d per lb. Hides: Ox, 70lb and over 6gd per lb, 601b to 691b sgd to 6Jd per lb, 451b to 591b 5Jd to 6gd, 441b and under 5d to s§d per lb; cows, 551b and! over 5Jd per lb, under 551b 5Jd to s|d; calf, 6d to 6|d. Tallow: Casks in shipping order £25 5s per ton, in tins 21s 6d per cwt.
