RED STAR v., CARTERTON
A return match was played on the Masterton Showgrounds, on Saturday, between the Red Star and Carterton senior teams. Neither side was fully represented, and the game was not a very interesting one. The game resulted in a win for the visitors by 7 points to 3 points. There was not much to choose between the respective teams, but Carterton were slightly superior, and their backs indulged in more passing than the Stars, who relied • more on individual play. Henderson scored a try for Carterton, which Johuson failed to conveet, and Killop potted a neat goal from the field. Darvill placed a good penalty goal for Red Star. Killop played a first-clabs game in the backs for Carteron", and was ably assisted by Groube, Wadham and Ross, In the forwards McKenzie, Henderson, Mason and Johnson were the best of a hard-working set, For Red Star Darvill was the pick of the backs, and frustrated several forward rushes of the visitors in fine style. Wrigley, Dorsett ' and Duggan also played well. Wing put in some excellent work at fullback. In the forwards, Wick ens and Scorrar each played a splendid game, and Riley, Norman, Spring and Corbett also showed up well. Mr S. Smallwood was referee.
The members of the Masterton Club (senior arid junior) played a practice taatch on the Showgrounds on Saturday, but as there were not two full teams present, the game was not an interesting one.
