THE CHRISTCHURCH SENSATION.

By Telegraph—Press Association. OHRISTCHURCH, April 26. An inquest was held, this afternoon, touching the death of Xlfred Hellyer, who was arrested on Sunday for child murder, and wl\o was found in his cell in an unconscious condition on Monday afternoon, and died at the hospital later in the evening. Evidence was given that Hellyer while in the lock-up had been given the contents of a phial, which had been taken away from him witji his other property when he was searched on being arrested. The bottle was found to contain fragments of morphia, and morphia was also discovered in the stomach. A verdict was returned that death was due to morphia taiken by the accused while in a state of insanity.
